Just Us

Decided that we will do a short trip over CNY this year instead of staying in S'pore. Booked my flight last year hoping that it will not clash with the kids' school days.

CNY Eve (15th Feb'18)

Our flight is at 8.30am so we left home at about 5.45am. Got our BIL who is driving a Maxicab to send us to the airport.

That's all we are bringing :) Total weight is about 33kg. After checking in our luggage, went to collect the Changi Wifi Router (this is the best thing ever!). Then went to Macs for breakfast since we will only land Taipei around 1pm'ish.

Upon arrival, the driver which I arranged through Klook in SG watsapp'ed me and told me he will be waiting outside the arrival hall for us. Everything was fuss-free! Weather wasn't cold at all :( Was around 25degrees when we arrived.

Checked into our Airbnb apartment on the 10th floor. Apartment was alright, there's 2 bedrooms upstairs and the kids took 1 room each. Location was pretty good too, smack at the end of XMD. We were not able to connect to the apartment's Wifi and the TV was also having trouble turning on so we left it as it is. Did not watch any TV during our trip. Good thing we had the Changi Wifi with us!

After leaving our luggage in the apartment, we went out to look for food, we were already starving by then. Went to check-out Ah Chung Mian Xian but they were close so we settled for something else instead - STREET FOOD!

Then we went to check out XMD. Checking out the claw/mystery box machines.

Our Reunion dinner is at 天外天精緻火鍋 at 9.30pm! The place was completely booked and I made my reservation 1 month ahead! Anyways, was really glad we had a place to eat. Many people told me most places will be closed during eve so I’m so glad we won’t have to eat out on the streets 😉

Paid TW2592 for 4 pax which is about SGD120

Continue roaming the streets after dinner. It’s still quite packed in XMD even at around 11pm’ish

CNY Day 1 / Taipei Day 2 (16th Feb’18)

Went to Ah Chung Mian Xian for my fix.

Then took the train to Tamsui to check out Tamsui Old Street and more yummy food. When we stepped out of the station, we realised that it’s so much colder here. Was about 17degrees and we were so happy! The weather just makes everything so much better.

After about 2 hours, we left to head to the most anticipated place in my itinerary – OIA Café! Booked Uber for TW277 to some Ulu place which was about 30mins drive away.

Ordered some light bites which was quite expensive.. About TW2000+ I think

The kids had such a fun time hanging out with the animals here 🙂

After washing up, we left the café and walked to the back of the café where the beach is. There’s these rock formations leading out to the ocean and we took a looong walk there. We spent so much time here playing and taking pics/videos and laughing away. It was so much fun!

Tried to call for Uber to head to Shilin Night Market but no Uber was available! No cabs even! We waited maybe close to 20mins when finally a cab stop by. Took over an hour to get to Shilin NM due to the evening peak traffic and it was so so packed too!! We paid the driver TW1000 though the fare was about 800+ I think.

Went to get more street food and walked around. Then girl spotted this! Not sure what happened too 😦
